Global Cannabis and CBD News Roundup

Hi,
The cannabis community had many ups and downs in 2022. While cannabis banking didn’t pass, Biden approved over 6,500 cannabis pardons, a small amount but a move in the right direction. And he did pass a bill making cannabis research more accessible. While the next two years don't seem incredibly optimistic on a U.S. federal level, Germany is moving forward with cannabis legalization. Also during this year, the states of Montana, New Mexico, New Jersey, Vermont, Rhode Island and New York launch adult-use programs.
The U.S. Virgin Islands have sent a cannabis legalization and expungement bill to the Governor, who is expected to sign it!
Months ago, Curaleaf was accused of having ties to Russia. The company's founder, Boris Jordan, who is of Russian descent himself and owns 18% of Curaleaf, has called the brand an American success story and emphasized that he was born in the U.S. However, newly leaked documents indicate that much of Curaleaf's funding came from the Russian billionaire, Andrei Bloch, who is the partner of Roman Abramovich and is reported to own 28% of Curaleaf. Not only does Abramovich have ties with Putin but he has been helping negotiate on
behalf of Ukraine. Does this mean they will broker peace by offering both armies and politicians free prerolls? Okay, probably not. But I can still dream. :)
