Some studies linked cannabis use to psychosis in adolescents but researchers suggest this may be due to those with psychiatric issues self-medicating, leaving the causation unproven. Florida’s medical cannabis market is finally expanding, doubling its operators by issuing 22 new licenses—the first since 2017—despite nearly 900,000 registered patients. Each of the 74 applicants paid $160K to apply, with winners required to post a $5M bond. In Kentucky, nearly 5,000 applications at $5K each were submitted for just 36 dispensary licenses through their lottery system. States are raking in tens of millions of dollars from hopeful entrepreneurs, most of whom will walk away empty-handed. I wonder if state officials are Christmas shopping with all that cash! ;)
