Hi,
We highlight a couple of articles discussing the debate on drug laws. There is an attempt at the federal and state levels to strengthen laws prohibiting the possession and sale of fentanyl to stem the rising number of overdose deaths. But will they be effective in decreasing drug use or just increase incarceration rates of addicts as happened with the strict drug laws from decades ago? Would the legalization of hard drugs ensure a safe supply or increase deaths? How can a more comprehensive approach that includes treatment options, as well as some coercive measures, be integrated? Those are lots of tough questions!
The Mayo Clinic discovered that plant-derived CBD can relieve symptoms in gastroparesis patients, helping them find much-needed relief. Lawmakers chastised the FDA for failing to create a legal pathway for hemp-derived cannabinoids in dietary supplements and food. I'm not sure that it will do much good but I'm always up for a good FDA-chastening. :)
