A new poll says that 61% of US registered voters support regulated therapeutic access to psychedelics, with 35% strongly supporting it. Seventy-eight percent of voters support more accessible research on psychedelics, and 49% back removing criminal penalties for personal use and possession.
Popular 'Benzo' drugs, such as Xanax and Valium, have been connected to significant health concerns such as suicide and brain damage. Worryingly, these harmful effects can persist even after discontinuation of these medications.
Moving on to cannabis-related issues on the East Coast, Maryland is witnessing business closures due to new hemp regulations, causing owners distress. Not far away, in Virginia, advocates are concerned about new hemp rules, which they believe will inadvertently push consumers toward illicit markets. These incidents highlight the tangled web of cannabis regulation, local business viability, and consumer behavior.
