In an industry that desperately needs credit, a US cannabis REIT attained a $20M credit line with a 4.75% APR. This may be the biggest FDIC-backed loan of its kind. In Canada, where cannabis is federally legal, credit unions are the institutions of choice for dispensaries because banks have been rejecting them. Banks do so out of fear of the extraterritorial reach of U.S. laws...and because they're chickens. :) A US federal judge ruled that Missouri can’t restrict the sale of medical cannabis permits to only Missouri residents which is expected to cause a flood of out-of-state investment.
