California approved Governor Newsom's emergency regulations on hemp, banning hemp-derived THC products and raising the age of CBD purchase to 21! This has caused the successful cannabis/hemp businessmen who played the cult classic stoners Cheech and Chong to file a lawsuit against the California Department of Public Health. A study from Oregon suggests that the surge in overdose deaths there was more likely due to the rise of fentanyl rather than the state's decriminalization of drugs. Meanwhile, across the U.S., drug overdose deaths have dropped by 12.2% thanks to increased access to naloxone, efforts to reduce fentanyl supply and I think people educating each other. While we're not there yet, it's an encouraging sign of progress. :)
