Over in North Carolina, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians has voted in favor of adult-use cannabis, rebuking Rep. Chuck Edwards, better known as “Big Running Weisel.” ;) Edwards is trying to withhold federal highway funds in an effort to punish North Carolinans who chose to use cannabis recreationally. This tribal vote could serve as a gateway for broader cannabis legalization in North Carolina, potentially affecting millions of residents.

In California, the Senate is on the cusp of legalizing cannabis cafes. Not just stopping at cannabis, the state is also in the process of decriminalizing the use of magic mushrooms and other natural psychedelics. A bill pushed by veteran groups has passed the state congress and is on the desk of Governor Gavin Newsom for the final decision. I’m sure he and his people are analyzing what a vote would mean for his national political aspirations. Gavin, don't be afraid. Approving this will make you a pioneer, help a huge amount of people, and set a precedent for other states. So what if the Republicans nickname you, “The Mushroom Governor”? We need a “Mushroom President.” :)
